I Feel Like I’m Constantly Asking You All Not To Judge Me…

A conversation I had with John Hamm while running this morning:

Me: What did you do last night?

JH: Hung out with Lemon and watched some TV. Started season 2 of Vampire Diaries.

Me: …Seriously?

JH: It’s actually really good!

Me: That’s what people said about Twilight.

JH: No… That’s what you said about Twilight… and I’m right about this.

That was a dark time in all of our lives…

In other news, Duckies, it’s almost time for the next book review! Don’t forget to keep making suggestions for what I should read next!

From what I’ve read about John Hamm, I could totally see that conversation happening…

I live with someone who loves both those movies and shows. Kill me please.

Well, at least she likes action movies and the Walking Dead so I’ll stay on life support!

  3. Hey now, just because Twilight was badly written with awful characterisation and a plot so full of holes you could drive a truck through them, it doesn’t mean it didn’t have its good points … I can’t think of them right now, but there must be some!

I saw the first Twilight movie for free, as my husband is press, so I get to go with him to movies before they come out. I knew it would be a big thing, so I went with him. As you know, the movie was horrible. It then became all the rage, and I was sick of people saying “Oh, but you should read the books, they’re so much better.”

To prove those jackasses wrong, I read the books. All of them. They were painful and miserable and the writing made my eyes bleed.

But now, I feel like I can totallly call the entire series junk and garbage I DID read the books, and they suck balls…just like the movies.

Now that I’m typing this out, I’m beginning to think I look like the jackass for reading a bunch of books I hated just to prove a point to random people I don’t know.

But my point still stands! And stop watching The Vampire Diaries. Stop it now.

I will stop as soon as Ian Somerhalder stops being so ridiculously good looking.

Seriously. It’s total gratuitous man candy, but without the vacant, cow-eyed characters and a plot that is actually, like, a plot.

I did the same thing with the Twilight books, but I went through a strange addiction cycle. It was kind of like saying, “I’m gonna do meth to show meth addicts how bad it is!” And then, “Holy crap, meth is really good!” And finally, “MOTHER OF GOD, THIS IS METH, WHAT AM I DOING?!?” Long story short, I got halfway through Eclipse, panicked as if coming out from under witchcraft, threw it across the room and never picked it up again.

That’s a long way of saying I sympathize with your point.
