And Then I Vlogged About My Phone Voice

That’s right, Duckies – today I’m doing a Vlog.

So… enjoy the awkwardness that is me on camera, because there’s so much of it that it hurts sometimes… I’m not calling myself fat or anything… it was the mass amount of awkward that I was referring to… I’m sure you knew that, though.

Anyway…. Here I am in all my morning glory!

See you all on Monday with Episode 3 of Awkwardly Wonderful Dating Advice!!

Happy Friday! I think your awkwardness is endearing. Most of us would be awkward doing a vlog. Keep at it!

The reason I refuse to do a vlog is my voice. Seriously!! I feel incredibly uncomfortable when I hear my own voice in recordings. I once made a super cool video of a river ride in this historic area and I never shared the video with anyone because I heard myself speak in it and it’s not cool!
It would be so much fun if you could see people’s reaction when your voice changes…haha!

HA! I have several voices! I worked retail for-ever and I only recently realized that I had a
“Saying Hi! to Customers” high pitched (a.k.a. super, obviously fake) voice.
A “Talking to Boss Man” phone voice – timid & innocent (a.k.a. childish & shaky)
My “Normal” phone voice – so annoying that I often wonder why anyone calls me, ever.
BUT then there’s my “Voicemail Voice”
(Not to be confused with my “Leave a Message at the Tone” voicemail voice, which is as annoying if not more so than my “Normal” phone voice.)
My “Voicemail Voice” is what comes out when I’m leaving someone a message – which I actually really like – In fact, I like it so much that I may or may not call my friends and leave super long messages from time to time, because surely they love that voice as much as I do and who am I to deny someone such a simple pleasure?

I wish my job didn’t block all video on my computer!

You are so not alone in this! I’m the queen of voices in the office. It’s only weird and awkward when people point out your awesomeness and then you sit there when it hits then that frankly, they’re not near as cool as you are and leave your office feeling defeated.

Suckers. I’ll stick with phone voice. Cute voices are better over the phone.

  6. Dana says:

I have a phone voice sometimes. My kids make fun of me; apparently I say “ok” a lot on the phone, and my voice rises and falls in different octaves for each one. They make me so self conscious I have to leave the room and talk with no one watching.
